This bachelor thesis inquires into the reflection of "The Battle of the Symbols of the University" on the pages of Přítomnost. It charts editor's offices stances to nationalism is the Czechoslovak society in the first half of 1930's. The thesis insists on the representative choice of articles of Přítomnost and on archive materials to describe the event. The objective of the work is to bring the sum of stances of magazine to the students, nationalism, relation between Czech and Germen people an "The Battle of the Symbols of the University" in the first half of 1930's. The work charts the stances of the Czechoslovak society, which is represented by the magazine Přítomnost.
The first people in space according to Czechoslovak media

This thesis focused on how propaganda was used in the Czechoslovak media and how that directly relatedd to the first people in space. The aim is an analysis of celebrities of Soviet state system including Yuri Gagarin, Valentina Tereshkova and also John Glenn for comparison. The thesis discusses how these people were promoted and constructed into cult heroes in Eastern, Western and Third World countries. The secondary literature of this subject was not yet analysed and the author wants to use it for further study. The contemporary sources are used in the press - Rude pravo, Mlady svet, Dikobraz, ABC mladych prirodovedcu a techniku and the Ceskoslovensky vojak.
The media image of Prague underground in the contemporary press 1974-1990

Bachelor thesis "The media image of Prague underground in the contemporary press during the period 1974-1990" deals with presenting underground railway by daily press during the normalization and shortly after the velvet revolution in 1989. The author have chosen Lidová demokracie, Mladá fronta, Rudé právo a Večerní Praha as the sources. The thesis is focused on years 1974, 1978 and 1985 - during these years the underground line C, A and B were opened - and 1990, when the line A was prolonged. The thesis also describes the history of the underground in Czechoslovakia and interprets the contemporary and political context.

The goal of the master thesis deals with the media image of work of a screenwriter and director Pavel Juráček in the Czechoslovak and Czech press in 1960-1970 and after 1989. Juráček was one of the most outstanding filmmakers of so-called Czechoslovak New Wave, whose career was stopped because of The Warsaw Pack Invasion in Czechoslovakia and following restoration of firm rule of a communist party. That's the reason why a first research period is set to 60s and early 70's when Juráček was going through his main artist evolution. The part of the thesis is focused on his films: The Cars without Homes (1959), The Dynamite Watcher (1960), Black-and-White Sylva (1961), Ikarie XB 1 (1963), Joseph Kilian (1963), A Jester's Tale (1964), Nobody Gets the Last Laugh (1965), Every Young Man (1965), The End of August at the Ozone Hotel (1966), Kino-Automat - Man and His house (1967) and Case for the New Hangman (1969). The second shorter part of the thesis is focused on the transformation of the media image of Juráček's work after his death in 1989 mainly because of publishing of his literary heritage, most importantly his diaries.

The aim of this bachelor thesis titled: "The Czechoslovak Press Acclaim for the Book Burning by the German Students on 10th May 1933" is not only to give complex insight into the background of those events but also into the events preceding as they are closely linked. The author's intention is to relate the events to the context of the atmosphere in the 1933 Czechoslovakia. The reactions of the Czechoslovak press to the book burning are discussed in a separate chapter as well as the response of Czechoslovakia's western neighbours. The media image of the Six-Day War in the contemporary Czechoslovak and Polish daily newspapers

The diploma thesis aims to describe and reconstruct the media image of the Six-Day War based on the analysis of selected articles from official contemporary Polish and Czechoslovak daily newspapers, which were being published during the event, from 5 to 10 June 1967 until the War of Attrition. An emphasis is placed on the portrayal of the Six-Day War and the comparison of media images of the conflict in Czechoslovak and Polish daily newspapers. The thesis also attempts to show the impact of a different domestic policy situation and historical factors on shaping media discourse in Czechoslovakia and Poland. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part presents the historical context of the event in relation to Czechoslovakia and Poland, the development of the media and selected daily newspapers. The theoretical part is also dedicated to the principles of propaganda, newspeak and critical discourse analysis. This method is used to analyse texts from the Czechoslovak and Polish daily newspapers - Rudé právo, Svobodné slovo, Mladá fronta, Lidová demokracie, Zemědělské noviny, Pravda, Trybuna Ludu, Żołnierz Wolności, Głos Robotniczy, Słowo Polskie, Życie Warszawy, Express Wieczorny. The coming of sound film and the media image of it in contemporary czechoslovak press

The author deals with the coming of a sound film and its reviews in the contemporary Czech art and film magazines. The first part describes development of film and film art from its beginnings in the late 19th century to the time just before the coming of a sound film at the turn of the twenties and thirties of the 20th century. The author also describes the evolution of the sound technology in the film and the coming of the first sound films including problems which this change has brought. In the practical part the author examines articles about this topic in the Czechoslovak art magazines using the qualitative analysis and describes the media image of the sound film at the time of its boom. The thesis describes main themes in those articles - the artistic quality of sound films, the future of the sound film, the sound film and the theater and international character of the film - and several related subtopics and ideological streams. He also finds out that the criticism of the sound film at those times is mostly negative, but despite that, its future development and existence had been expected. At last the author finds an improvement in an evaluation of aesthetic qualites of sound films.

This work deals with the reflection of Russian civil war (1918-1921) in Czechoslovak society. It focuses on the media presentation of the warring oponents, on the changes of this image during the conflict, as well as on the contemporary war reporting and public awareness. It also explores attitude of different groups of inhabitants and representatives of the state, as well as the influences and connections between events in Czechoslovakia and Russia. The work is mainly based on the research in contemporary press and various publications.
